God Knows Your Name

A Dad was listening to Israel and New Breeds song "I'am Not Forgotten" with his daughter and he repeats a line in the song and tells his daughter God knows your name! She replied, He knows me by my hair color! The Daddy then said to her no sweetie He doesn't know you by your hair color, He knows you by your heart...because it has no color.

Angels and Bullies

Once a young little fellow told his mom that he was having a hard time believing that he was being protected by angels. "Why" said the mom. The little boy replied,"Because if we (Christians)have angels why do we sometimes get beat up by bullies?

WHEW!!! That's a good one right there. So just what do we tell our children. Well for me I come straight with the WORD of GOD. Psalm 91 and Daniel chapter 10 are my 2 favorite places to go regarding these supernatural body guards. There are more examples in the Bible too! I also just explain to them that as Christians we live on a fallen planet and we are at war with fallen angels. In war, the enemy sometimes gets some licks in and then we get some licks in, but we always have the victory through Christ. It's sometimes hard for both kids and adults to believe that we really win in this life long battle against our invisible hater, the devil. The truth is we do, and we take our licks like "Divine Warriors" and we keep it moving--we keep fighting, standing, believing God, and advancing the kingdom. We don't always get to see the effects of the blows that we throw against the darkness and then there are times that we do, but no matter what we BELIEVE God and His Word and march on (-:

Book Review "Made for a Purpose"by D.D. Mackall

This is another favorite of ours. It's a book inspired by the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. It is a beautiful story of faith, friendship, and forgiveness.
It's main character is C.J. Jones. She has a big hurt that makes it hard for her to trust people. She meets some Christian children at the beach and she ends up learning that God loves her and has created her for His purposes. She also learns that the one thing she wants to do in life was placed in her by God, from her creativity and skill to her personality God already gave her everything she needs to succeed in this life especially the reality of God's love and the way to have a personal relationship with Him. Letters and Notes

Dear God, Maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each other so much if they had their own rooms. It works with my brother.

On the first day of school, a first grader handed her teacher a note from her mother. The note read,"The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents."

Dear God, We read Thomas Edison made light. But at my school they said You did, so I bet he stoled your idea. (-:

The Best Part of Waking Up

A sweet little boy surprised his grandmother one morning and brought her a cup of coffee. He made it himself and was so proud. He anxiously waited to hear the verdict on the quality of the coffee. The grandmother had never in her life had such a bad cup of coffee,as she forced down the last sip she noticed three of those little green army guys in the bottom of the cup.
She asked, "Honey, why would three little green army guys be in the bottom of my cup?" Her grandson replied, "You know Grandma, it's like on TV, "The best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup" (-:

To Spank or Not to Spank! Is That Really a Question?

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him. Proverbs 22:15

I remember when my husband took our son for shots. I'am not good at seeing my kids in pain of any kind so usually dad is the one holding that down. God Bless Him! (-: Now I come from both African and European descent, and I had the distinct opportunity to experience both discipline styles under one roof!LOL!! My mom used a wooden spoon on us when we were younger and whatever was close by as we got older!LOL!! So when my son was younger we used a wooden spoon to remove the folly. While at the Dr.s office once my husband had the spoon with him. In walks the Dr. and he looks at the wooden spoon and asks my husband does he use that on our son. My husband told him, "of course!" The Dr. then decided to go on and on about how barbaric it is to use such methods, and that spanking is a thing of the past. My husband very calmly asks the Dr. a question. He asks him, "Did your parents spank you?" Sheepishly the Dr. replied, "yes." My husband then comments to him, "And look how well you turned out!" End of conversation. Society will always try to find ways to undermine God's Word, that's why it's important to KNOW God's Word. Now when my kids were little we talked, reasoned, and disciplined them with the spoon and guess what when they got older all we had to do was talk to them or apply another form of discipline like taking away things for a time etc.... Nobody knows kids like God and He knows what works! Be not conformed to this world saints and don't be guilt tripped by this world either, but be and continually be transformed by the renewing of your minds in God's Word, it works!!!

Max Lucado Children's Book Review

Hello Friends! Today I want to share a wonderful book with you that my children have enjoyed. It's called, "You Are Special" by Max Lucado.
The book decribes the every day life of wooden people called Wemmicks. Daily they all go around putting gold stars or gray dots each other. The pretty ones-those with smooth wood, fine paint, and talent always get stars. Those with chipped paint or don't have a lot of talent get ugly gray dots.

This book echoes Psalm 139:14 and will reinforce what you and I continually tell our kids...that no matter how the world may evaluate them, God cherishes each one of them just the way they are. (-:

Becoming Childlike

Matthew 18:3,4 (21st Century King James Version)

3and said, "Verily I say unto you, unless ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Isn't that astounding? Jesus says not only must we be converted but we must also become as little children. As I remember my children as "little" several things come to mind. Number one they were teachable. I could teach and train them without their pride or insecurities popping up, they just simply learned and did. Another thing I remember is their ability to forgive without holding grudges and the love they shared openly without reserve even to the other little kids who may have hurt them prior. In verse 4 Jesus talks about humbling oneself like a little child, remember when your child would cry out for your help, or for food, or for fun without any shame or hesitation? That's what this means to me. To cry out to Abba daily for help, for rest, for EVERYTHING without allowing my so called "independence" to keep Him away, which leads to my last memory and observation of small children..their total dependence upon and absolute trust in their parents. We live in a world that tries to condition us to do you,go with what you feel, do what you think is best. The truth is we HAVE to rely upon God for everything, every action and reaction, every decision made, EVERYTHING. I myself fail everytime when I try to be "grown." While maturity is required for growth in all areas may we remmeber constantly that we must become as little children to enter into in His Kingdom. (-:

You Know It's From the Heart

A Beautiful Story of A Father Empowering His Son

My youngest son is the third of three boys. The first two boys are high powered-the third is not any less high powered but he's number three. By the time you've grown up with one brother who is all confident in this and all confident in that there's not much left for you.
As a father, I worried...he is the most sensitive of the caboose so to encourge him I spent a lot of time with him in the outdoors- camping, hunting, fishing. Anybody who has spent time in the wilderness knows that a pocket knife is an essential part of the gear. So whenever your setting up camp your always looking for the knife. My son Ryan had a pocketknife and that became his identity. His older brothers always had to ask him for that knife and that became his status in the tribe. He was the man with the blade. One year my birthday came around and as my family was planning something for me- my youngest son came in, he had something in his hand that he wanted to give me in private, just me and him and when I opened it up --it was a pocketknife!!

As parents we have such an awesome job and wield such awesome influence in the lives of God's children entrusted to us...what are you doing with it? (-:

Kids Make Great Disciple Makers

Mark 10:14 (New Living Translation)

When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.

One day my son came in the house and said he needed a Bible because he just lead another friend to the LORD. So I reached in my big box of brand new Bibles and pulled one out for him to give to the little boy. About a month later I came outside and saw my son on the steps of our home reading the Bible with his new brother in the Lord! You won't believe what they were studying the book of Elijah! Now it's been a year later and both boys are still faith friends and tonight the little boy came to spend the night. God can and use children if WE let Him. My advice to you would be get you a box of new Bibles and let your kids know what they are for and watch God disciple others through your children. (-:

Your Child and Your Brother/Sister

Romans 12:9-11 (New King James Version)

9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

In this verse God is giving us some basic instructions as to how to behave as Christians especially behavior towards one another as God family. These principles can be applied in all relationships of course but today think about it in terms of your children who have openly confessed Christ. One day they are covered by God because of our realtionship with God ( 1st Corinthians 7:14) to being covered by God because of their own personal relationship with Him. WOW!!!

When I pray with or for my children I always make an effort to remind myself and them that we are family through Christ's blood. It is truly a revelation worth grasping as some people view children as unimportant or not having any value until they are old enough to contribute to the household. Nothing could be further from the truth. Children have value as does every soul that comes through the womb. For my kids there was a deeper understanding that yes you are Mom but Mom is also my sister in Christ. They grasp that while they were raised by us they don't really belong to us, they belong to God. As Parents and Brethren to our children it's so good to practice now preferring them before ourselves. There are many of us that have different viewpoints regarding children and their treatment. It can even run as deep as the part of the country you live in or were born in. Today may I just encourage you, if you are not already doing so to ask God to help you love and treat the kids He has made you a temp steward over to show you how He would have you treat them according to His Word. It will be a tremendous blessing to you and to them I promise you (-:

Same Page for Kids Sake

Proverbs 22:6(New King James Version)

6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

There have been several high profle people who practice a lot of religions within their home. I think about how confused those children might be now or will me in the future or even worse how much more open they will be to the deceptions of the enemy. As I get opportunities to talk to young people considering marriage I always ask how they are going to handle religious issues. When they get married will the couple attend the same church. Are they as parents on one accord concerning their convictions? Are the parents prepared to stand up for their convictions when it involves close family members?
As parents or future parents it's so important to be on the same page in the home especially where God is concerned. Now I know that there are people who both married as sinners and now one gets Saved and the other does not. But when you have two Christians maybe from different backgrounds it's so important to be in agreement regarding the children. They are not just the future church they are the church NOW. Keep them strong and steady by being in agreement first with God and then with one another. We are charged to train them up right the first go around so when they are older and get married and have kids they will not depart from God and neither will their children and their childrens children and so on. Gently Lead Them Towards God's Will

At church one night while we were waiting in God's presence my daughter says to me," Mommy God wants me to go up to the front and recite from my memory Ps.91." Which she could do because she had memorized the chapter herself by her own will and doing. Go tell Pastor Wanda I said. She froze but afterwards we told Pastor Wanda and her words to Marvalous were... next time do what God tells you even if you have to do it afraid. Those words still ring true...

While God has not given us a spirit of fear, those feelings do rise up when it's time to DO something that in our minds might bring about rejection or ridicule because of the great risk involved. There have been many times my daughter has had to do it afraid from ministering in song to teens locked up in a Psychiatric Hospital at age 10, to interviewing celebrities at local events.

As parents it's our job to keep encouraging them to keep going forward no matter what feelings may arise. My daughter has a bright future in communication today because of God's plan for her life and us gently urging her to do it even if you are afraid.

Are You God's Wife

A little boy about 10 years old was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold. A lady approached the boy and said, "My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?"
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the boys reply. The lady took him by the hand and went into the store and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her. She took the little guy to the back part of the store and removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel. By this time the clerk returned with the socks. Placing a pair of socks upon the boys feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes. She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, "No doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?" As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and looking up in her face, said, "Are you God's wife?"

Tithing- Let God Prove Himself To Your Kids

I'm so excited about this post because God just proved Himself to our 10yr old in such a glorious way that I had to share it.

My son had started to earn a little pocket change from his grandmother so we told him make sure you tithe it. Well he took the 10% and buried it in the ground, so he wouldn't get tempted to spend it before church on Sunday. I asked him to go and get it so we could get it ready for church this Sunday and he said it was gone. He was visibly upset about it. We told him maybe the rain had caused it to sink deeper into the ground, so we told him we will cover him this Sunday(-:

The following day I felt prompted to ask him if he understood the principle behind tithing he said," kind of." He didn't understand it, but he knew it was pleasing to God so he did it. That night we studied tithing in the Bible. We took him to Malachi 3 (Tithing is also mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 23:23) and explained it to him. We showed him how God uses our tithes and offerings to help pay the Pastors salary, help people in the church, and for the upkeep of the church building in general. After we finished God had me go back over the " prove me says the LORD" so I did, not really knowing why.

Well the next day I received a phone call from a friend and she asked me what size Lil Reggie wore and I told her, she then asked me she could bring him some clothes and she did. My son and I sat down and bag after bag my son and I praised God and rejoiced as we pulled out designer and regular brand jeans, shirts, boots, shoes, and water shoes.... it was unreal.
God had blessed my son with so much we didn't have room enough for it all!! The best part was watching my son realize God had proved His Word to him, in a way that he will never forget. We both sat in awe of God as we looked at this mountain of blessings that had taken over our couch, that I will have to put in containers because we literally do not have room to store them all. Praise God!!!

As my son sat back looking over all this abundance, he looked at me and said ever so sweetly, "I guess God got my tithe after all." (-:

Lifting Up the Standard for Our Kids' Sake

Happy Monday to you all in the matchless name of Jesus!!!

Have you ever sat down and just watched television with your kids? Are the shows that they are watching reinforcing the character traits and values that you and I work hard daily to instill in them? Or are those shows tearing all our hard work down? That's a good question to ask ourselves, especially now when television shows are "telling a vision." Visions of Dad's portrayed as idiots, good for nothing more than their wallet and Mom's are either large and in charge, sexual objects, or both. Let's not even talk about the witchcraft wrapped up all cute like.

In times like these we have no choice but to really seek the LORD and be led by His Spirit. We can't afford to sacrifice our children to the spirit and voices of this age for mere entertainment or convenience sake. We all know the Scripture, Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they shall not depart. Proverbs 22:6 So as parents we need to like never before seriously train our children in the Word, with the Word, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. The devil is not playing parents, he's out to pull our kids away from God and even us. It's time to shake ourselves and rise up and allow the Holy Spirit in us to lift up the standard against the devil in our homes. Isaiah 59:19 Our children need us and guess what? God needs our children! Why? To be the next wave of assault in the war against the kingdom of darkness. Let's be even more diligent to help our children fight successfully in every area of their lives especially, where entertainment is concerned.

Nurturing God's Gifts in Your Child

Do you know your kids have gifts from God in them? If you do what are you doing or what can you do to nurture those gifts and or callings? For example my kids are called to evangelism. They started witnessing on their own to kids and adults early by God's design. My daughter started at the age of two and my son started at age 9.

In what ways have we nurtured that burning in them you may ask, in as many ways that God gives us!! We take our children out with us during outreaches, they have been privy to our conversations with others while witnessing, we role play, we instruct them, and most of all we continually put God's Word in them.

Isaiah 55:11
so shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: It shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Psalm 127: 3&4
Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of thy youth.

Today ask the LORD how to help you nurture His gifts in your child. He is faithful and He will show you, and you will be forever blessed and amazed as you witness God working with, and through your child!!! (-:
