My youngest son is the third of three boys. The first two boys are high powered-the third is not any less high powered but he's number three. By the time you've grown up with one brother who is all confident in this and all confident in that there's not much left for you.
As a father, I worried...he is the most sensitive of the caboose so to encourge him I spent a lot of time with him in the outdoors- camping, hunting, fishing. Anybody who has spent time in the wilderness knows that a pocket knife is an essential part of the gear. So whenever your setting up camp your always looking for the knife. My son Ryan had a pocketknife and that became his identity. His older brothers always had to ask him for that knife and that became his status in the tribe. He was the man with the blade. One year my birthday came around and as my family was planning something for me- my youngest son came in, he had something in his hand that he wanted to give me in private, just me and him and when I opened it up --it was a pocketknife!!
As parents we have such an awesome job and wield such awesome influence in the lives of God's children entrusted to us...what are you doing with it? (-:
