I'm so excited about this post because God just proved Himself to our 10yr old in such a glorious way that I had to share it.
My son had started to earn a little pocket change from his grandmother so we told him make sure you tithe it. Well he took the 10% and buried it in the ground, so he wouldn't get tempted to spend it before church on Sunday. I asked him to go and get it so we could get it ready for church this Sunday and he said it was gone. He was visibly upset about it. We told him maybe the rain had caused it to sink deeper into the ground, so we told him we will cover him this Sunday(-:
The following day I felt prompted to ask him if he understood the principle behind tithing he said," kind of." He didn't understand it
, but he knew it was pleasing to God so he did it. That night we studied tithing in the Bible. We took him to Malachi 3 (Tithing is also mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 23:23) and explained it to him. We showed him how God uses our tithes and offerings to help pay the Pastors salary, help people in the church, and for the upkeep of the church building in general. After we finished God had me go back over the " prove me says the LORD" so I did, not really knowing why.
Well the next day I received a phone call from a friend and she asked me what size Lil Reggie wore and I told her, she then asked me she could bring him some clothes and she did. My son and I sat down and bag after bag my son and I praised God and rejoiced as we pulled out designer and regular brand jeans, shirts, boots, shoes, and water shoes.... it was unreal.
God had blessed my son with so much we didn't have room enough for it all!!
The best part was watching my son realize God had proved His Word to him, in a way that he will never forget. We both sat in awe of God as we looked at this mountain of blessings that had taken over our couch, that I will have to put in containers because we literally do not have room to store them all. Praise God!!!
As my son sat back looking over all this abundance, he looked at me and said ever so sweetly,
"I guess God got my tithe after all." (-:
